Wetterling Gallery is proud to announce an exhibition by Swedish artist Fredrik Nielsen in the project room at the gallery.
Through an improvisational approach Fredrik Nielsen energetically pushes the boundaries of glass art, this time in a site-specific installation with car windshields and neon. Nielsen’s raw expressive idiom is influenced by graffiti, music and pop culture. The body, physical exertion, and a relationship to the material are, along with music, essential parts of his creative process. Fredrik Nielsen’s powerful and unconventional sculptures diverge greatly from tradition’s smooth surfaces and balanced forms.
Fredrik Nielsen (b. 1977) has attended both Orrefors Glass School, Sweden and Pilchuck Glass School, USA as well as the Royal Institute of Art, Sweden. Recent exhibitions include Corning Museum of Glass, NYC, Vessel Gallery, London, Dunkers Kulturhus, Helsingborg and Millesgården, Stockholm. Nielsen is represented in public collections worldwide, such as Nationalmuseum, Sweden, Corning Museum of Glass, USA, Ariana Museum, Switzerland, Tore G Wärenstams Stiftelse, Sweden as well as in private collections in Sweden, Finland and USA. He lives and works in Stockholm.
