Sketch for the upcoming sculptural installation Trådarna by Liva Isakson Lundin at Gothenburg's City Theatre.

Venue

Göteborgs Stadsteater
Götaplatsen 4, Göteborg

As the city theatre in Gothenburg are renovation their house, they needed a new artistic installation and the chosen one is a large copper installation by Liva Isakson Lundin! The name of the sculpture, Trådarna refers to the body’s nerve fibres but also the other meaning of the word nerve, to dare to do something. For example, the nerve in performing arts, the nerve in the moment just before a theatre performance. Together, the copper wires in the installation becomes the theatres nervous system and the movement and adrenaline take the form of sculptures.

"I have thought of the theater as a body, where the threads weave together their different parts. Threads or tentacles that lead inward, change and grow back. Artistic work such as conveying an idea, thought, feeling as accurately as possible. The courage to get so close, under the skin. I realized myself during the process how inspired I have become by performing arts in my own art. There is something about that moment that I think is very exciting", says Liva Isakson Lundin.

We can’t think of a better suited collaboration and can’t wait to visit Gothenburg’s city theatre and see both a live performance as well as Isakson Lundin’s sculpture! Image shows the model for the upcoming installation.
