Mona Ardeleanu’s paintings centers on precisely constructed objects which she refers to as “bodies”. These bodies, painted folded fabrics like velvet, silk or feathers and furs, are floating freely in a monochrome picture space. A motif examining the relationship between body and space.
The objects in Mona Ardeleanus paintings do not really exist. They are products of her imagination and constructed directly on the canvas without any models or preparatory sketches. Each “body” takes on a monochrome shape before it continues to grow in the process of painting.
Mona Ardeleanu is born in 1984 in Lörrach, Germany and has studied at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart. Her work has been exhibited widely and is represented in numerous collections among others Kunstmuseum Stuttgart.
