In the exhibition Wailing Wall we get to meet the veil in various forms, in sculptures and drawings. In two sculptures only the veil is presented, here in the form of standing drapes. In the drawings we see the same floating fabric. In the sculpture Love lies a man who is crucified on the floor wrapped in a piece of cloth. In the large walled Wailing Wall, consisting of 80 pieces of drop-shaped wall sculptures carved from marble, Aidan continues her investigation of the elevated or the transition between the earthly and the sacred where the water stands as a symbol of the purification that must take place before such a transition is possible. In a more direct interpretation of the work, the drops or tears can be seen as a representation of the violence men inflict on women in their own homes and all the sorrow many relationships contain. Russia, where Aidan lives and works, tops the statistics of domestic violence.
