Wetterling Gallery is proud to present Kronår, Ylva Ceder’s sixth solo exhibition at the gallery.
Hunting is a prominent theme in several of the paintings. Ylva Ceder has also drawn inspiration from the interaction between humans and dogs. She herself owns a hunting Labrador that she trains. Through participation in bear, deer, and wild boar hunts, her fascination with the various relationships that define hunting has been brought to life.
The exhibition also includes motifs that reference a type of textile commonly found at flea markets. Forgotten craftsmanship into which someone has invested great effort. Very personal, yet so anonymous. By depicting crocheted tablecloths and embroideries on leftover planks with pyrography, Ylva Ceder creates meaning from materials that might otherwise be lost.
Ylva Ceder was born in 1976 in Lund, Sweden. She received an MFA from Konstfack University College of Arts, Craft and Design, Stockholm in 2007. She has exhibited internationally and widely throughout Sweden, including solo exhibitions at Passagen, Hälsinglands Museum, Linköping and Rättviks Konsthall. Her works are represented in private and public collections including Malmö Konstmuseum, Katrineholms Konsthall, Helsingborg Hospital, Knivsta Municipality and Hudiksvall Hospital. Ylva Ceder lives and works in Stockholm.
